Government Degree College, Poonch was established on 11 Nov 1955. Initially, this college was afiliated to Jammu & Kashmir University which later got separated into two universities namely University of Jammu and University of Kashmir. Presently, this college is affiliated to University of Jammu and is recognized by UGC(University Grants Commission). This is one of the premier colleges in Jammu & Kashmir state and celebrated its golden jubilee in the year 2005. The college offers undergraduate courses in Arts, Sciences, vocational course in sericulture and BCA as a professional course. The college also provides many facilities to its students like bus service, hostel facility for both boys and girls and for teachers too, canteen, medical facility, a well stocked library, remedial coaching cell, career counselling cell and many more.
