MGR Educational and Research Institute, a Deemed University (hereafter-called Dr. MGR Deemed University) was established in the year 2003 as per Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India Notification No.F.9-1/2002-U.3 dated 21.01.2003 and University Grants Commission (UGC) Notification F.6.6/2002(CPP-I) dated 13.03.03 to provide Higher Education in Engineering, Technology, Medicine and Dentistry, Humanities and Sciences to meet the current and projected need of the society. Besides promoting research and dissemination of knowledge, the University fosters co-operation between academic, industrial and medical communities he world over, with special focus on innovation, creative product design and high quality service through various extension activities and application -oriented educational programmes in emerging areas, which are relevant and useful to various developmental sectors and to the society in general.
